TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

As a student, I found that if I understood the basic concepts of chemistry (e.g., pka, electronics, sterics, etc.) that it allowed me to work through harder problems and this is the main philosophy I try to pass onto my student.  I try to encourage students always to rationalize their answers using the evidence they know by getting them to explain the concepts.  To assist students towards mastery of the fundamental skills, I try to co-create a welcoming learning community where the students feel comfortable expressing their issues to me and giving me feedback so I can assist them as best as possible.  I also try to involve different teaching strategies to help as many students as possible.  Overall I aim to have an adaptable and approachable style of teaching.
